World Day Against Child Labour
It is one of the greatest atrocities that take childhood away from children. The problem of child labor has not yet been resolved. In fact, 218 million children around the world are forced to work in often dangerous jobs. Around the world In most cases, child labor represents an additional hand to family income. This is necessary in a financially difficult situation. This phenomenon occurs mainly in the poorest regions of the world. In fact, Africa has the highest number of exploited children. However, it is also found in developed countries such as Italy, where about 340,000 children under the age of 16 are forced to work, Rafaela Milano of Save the Children said
World Day Against Child Labor, established by the International Labor Organization (ILO) on June 12, 2002, aims to highlight the issue of child labor, emphasizing the need to overcome all forms of child labor. It is said to shed light at the Economic exploitation Of children.
Education is the key
Earlier publications have emphasized the importance of education as a key to access to good employment patterns in adulthood. Enabling girls to go to school is considered one of the best investments a country can make in its development, but in times of crisis, women are often forced to work in crucial conditions. To reverse this trend, the ILO is calling for a more effective national policy to provide quality education for all children and to promote child labour and struggle education.
The goal of this joined campaign is to accelerate the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals which include guaranteeing safe labour environments for all workers by 2030 and eliminating all forms of child labour by 2025.
